The Nimrod is essentially an instant-acting animal trap designed primarily for catching stray dogs. It has a 1200 mm flexible handle, made of a polycarbonate rod, which has a dual function - it provides the tension necessary for action and reduces the discomfort felt by the captured animal. It has a plastic-coated braided cord that is firmly attached to one end and forms a loop that attaches to the other end.

To prepare the Nimrod for action, the handle is bent "in an arc" and the end loop on the cord is moved over the handle until it reaches the handle, where it can be held by the operator with the thumb. Once the device is placed so that it hugs the animal's head, the cord is released and instantly forms a loop around its neck. The Nimrod Loop is particularly effective for catching animals in motion.
