AmpliTest KHV (Real Time PCR)

Kit for detecting KHV (Koi Herpesvirus) specific DNA sequence using the Real Time PCR technique.

KHV is a dsDNA virus and belongs to the Herpesviridae family of viruses that attack fish. The nucleotide sequence of KHV has a high degree of similarity to CyHV-1 (Cyprinid herpesvirus 1) and CyHV-2 (Cyprinide herpesvirus 2) and slightly less similar to IcHV-1 (Ictalurid herpesvirus 1). Therefore, it is often referred to as the third type of CyHV virus (CyHV-3). KHV causes a highly infectious skin and gill disease that affects koi and farmed carp. The disease can lead to mass fish deaths, especially at higher water temperatures (20-25°C). The mortality rate can reach up to 100%.

The AmpliTest KHV (Real Time PCR) kit enables the detection of KHV-specific DNA sequences in DNA samples isolated from carp tissues. The Real Time PCR reaction is duplex. Virus DNA detection takes place in the FAM channel. The second channel (HEX) is used for internal control detection. The controls in the form of DNA molecules obtained by genetic engineering methods included in the kit enable the control of the correct course of the Real Time PCR reaction.
